Dr Mavis Sakyi is a Public Health Physician and health policy researcher with a decade of experience across Ghana and Japan, specializing in health economics and priority-setting. At Ghana's Ministry of Health, she sits on several technical working groups, including Health Technology Assessment (HTA), and is a technical expert on the redesign of Ghana's Essential Health Services Package for Non-communicable Diseases. As dwindling aid drives Ghana's Accra Reset agenda toward health financing sovereignty, her work sits at the heart of that transition: translating evidence into sustainable domestic priority-setting and financing to improve public health outcomes. She holds an MPH degree (Magna cum laude from the University of Ghana), an MBChB degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana, and is currently a Doctoral (DrPH) Candidate with the Nagasaki University’s Interfaculty Initiative in Planetary Health, Japan, under the supervision of Prof. Ryuichi Komatsu.
