Dr.Batangan was the 2025 Lourdes Campos Awardee for Public Health given by the Philippine Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology (PhiAAST). Data.org, an international network for democratization of data access, selected him as one of their Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) fellows in 2026. As part of a United Nations collaboration, he participates in an International Telecommunications Union (ITU) led expert group on ‘Future Foresight for Cities’. He is a distinguished faculty member and research scientist at Ateneo de Manila University. He holds positions within the School of Social Sciences, School of Government, and Institute of Philippine Culture. With degrees in psychology and medicine from the University of the Philippines, he furthered his studies with post-graduate courses in an Alternative Residency Program in Community Medicine in the Philippines and a Community Health for Developing Countries at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. Dr. Batangan's career is marked by transformative contributions to community and public health. He co-founded the Community Medicine Development Foundation, pioneering social innovations. His dedication earned him several community health service awards, including recognition from the University of the Philippines- Manila, Nueva Ecija Medical Society, Kabalikat Cooperative, University of the Philippines Alumni Association , Medical Action Group and the Department of Science and Technology 'TECHNICOM GAWAD 2021' under the 'Dakilang Ambag sa Imbensyon at Siyensiyang Pangkalusugan- GAWAD DAGISIK’ category and also received a Bronze Medal from the Filipino Inventors Society under the 'Pending Patent Category' (GAWAD MANUEL GOYENA). His research on the eHATID Local Government Units electronic health information systems and the eTriage for Social Inclusion: Navigating Out of Vulnerability Situations ('eTSI NOVuS) project showcased his prowess, receiving prestigious nominations and medals for their impact. A leader in the Ateneo EU Erasmus+ MICROCASA project Dr. Batangan's work epitomizes excellence and innovation in academia and health sciences."
